Triops (also known as Tadpole Shrimps) are passive mobs that spawn underwater in Desert and Badlands biomes.
Behavior[]
Triops can only live in Water and will slowly die if on land for too long.
Triops can be collected with a Water Bucket to obtain a Bucket of Triops. Triops placed in a bucket do not despawn naturally. When the bucket is used on a block it places Water along with the Triops swimming next to it.
If Crimson Mosquitoes are near a Triop, they will be intimidated, which the mosquitoes would shiver, similar to mobs infected by Ender Flu, and also lose desire to attack anything and fly away from the Triop. If the mosquitoes fly away far enough from the Triop, they will return back to their typical behaviour.
Breeding[]
Triops can be bred with Carrots. The carrots can be dropped in the water to breed them, as the Triops would swim over to the carrots and eat them.
Feeding or dropping two Triops some Carrots causes them to enter love mode and eventually one of the Triops will lay some Triops Eggs.

Trivia[]
- Triops in real-life actually live in puddles instead of underwater desert caves, eventually when the lake dries out, the Triops will die but their eggs will live on until another rainstorm.
- It is possible to feed a Triops some Crimson Mosquito Larvae although nothing happens when the player does this.
