Seagulls are passive mobs that spawn in Beach biomes.
Behavior[]
Seagulls can often be seen flying around.
Stealing Food[]
Even though Seagulls are considered passive, they do steal food from other players.
When a Seagull spots a player with food in their hotbar, it will chase the player down until it reaches the player and takes one food item from their hotbar before holding it in their beak.
Seagulls holding food in their beak will not consume their food until 5 seconds have passed. They cannot steal again for another 3 minutes.
Seagulls will additionally pick up and consume any food item dropped on the floor.
Buried Treasure Locating[]
If a player holds a Buried Treasure Map in their offhand while tossing a Lobster Tail on the ground near a Seagull, the Seagull will consume the Lobster Tail and begin to fly towards the Buried Treasure. Note that the player needs to be near the Buried Treasure for this to work.
Once the Seagull reaches the Buried Treasure, it will sit on the block that is above the Chest buried underground.
Breeding[]
Seagulls can be bred with Raw Cod.
Feeding two Seagulls some Raw Cod causes them to enter love mode and eventually one of the Seagulls will spawn a baby Seagull.

Trivia[]
- If a Seagull is named "Wingull" then it will gain the appearance of the Pokémon of the same name.
- Seagulls are the only mob that was added in Version 1.12.0.
- In real life, Seagulls attack baby sea turtles, or take their eggs to eat them, this is pretty inaccurate in the game since Seagulls do not take Turtle Eggs, or attack baby Turtle.

"Seagulls are medium-sized birds often found on Beaches. These birds are noteworthy for their ability to steal any food items, whether they are held in hand or in the hotbar. They will also pick up and eat any food item that is on the ground. Seagulls can only steal items every one to three minutes, so although an annoyance, they are far from a threat. Seagulls are not just an annoying bird, however. If one has a map leading to Buried Treasure in their off hand, they can toss a Lobster Tail onto the ground. The Seagull that eats this will reward its feeder by sitting directly above the Buried Treasure. This can greatly help in the effort of locating the treasure once one is close enough to the 'X' on the map. Seagulls can also be bred with Raw Cod." |
