Orcas (also known as Killer Whales) are neutral mobs that spawn underwater in Cold Ocean and Frozen Ocean biomes.
Behavior[]
Orcas can only live in Water and will slowly die if on land for too long.
Orcas will fight back if the player attacks one. They will attack by biting and slamming their tails.
Orcas hunt in groups and will prey on a large amount of aquatic mobs which include Salmon, Seals, Turtles, Drowned, Guardians, Baby Cachalot Whales, Polar Bears, and even Moose.
The texture an Orca spawns with will be different depending on the coordinates of their spawn point. Like black blue, to completely black, on different sides of the overworld.
If the player swims with an Orca for long enough then they may receive the Orca's Might effect.

Trivia[]
- Orcas in real life are more widespread in the Oceans, but in the mod, they can only be found in Cold and Frozen Oceans because this is where they are generally associated to live.
- This also may be the reason why they do not attack Hammerhead Sharks.
- This was the first fully aquatic mob to be added to the mod.
- The advancement Free Willy when swimming with an Orca and granting the Orca's Might effect, references to the 1993 movie Free Willy, about a young boy freeing an Orca named "Willy" from a decrepit aquarium.
- They are related to the Dolphin mob more closely than the Cachalot Whale, due to them being a type of Dolphin-- though, technically, they are all toothed whales or Odontocetes.
- For some reason, egg spawning on an adult Orca black variant will only spawn a baby blue Orca.

"The Orca is a large, dolphin-like cetacean found in the cold oceans of the Overworld. It can be often seen bobbing up and down out of the Water, and launching attacks on the native Polar Bear populations. They also kill schools of fish by slapping them with their massive tails. Unlike their dolphin cousins, these whales are not so friendly - hurting one of them could make the entire pod attack you. The color and appearance of an Orca can vary based off of whether its pod is from the south, north, east or west. Swimming with a pod of Orcas can grant one the Orca's Might effect. This effect grants increased attack speed. Orca often use their native strength against Drowned and Guardians." |
