Mungi are passive mobs that spawn in Mushroom Fields.
Behavior[]
Mungi can sometimes spawn with Mushrooms on their head.
Mungi with Mushrooms on their head will fire beams at Mushrooms. If the Mushrooms are placed on Mycelium or Podzol, the beam turns them into large Mushrooms. Otherwise, the Mushrooms spread to adjacent blocks.
Mungi will randomly shed Mungal Spores.
Biome Conversions[]
If a Mungus was killed while five Mushrooms are on its back then the sac on its back will explode. Afterwards, depending on the Mushroom on their head, the effected area will change into a different biome, which can include the following:
- Red or Brown Mushrooms create Mushroom Fields.
- Crimson Fungi create Crimson Forests.
- Warped Fungi create Warped Forests.
A biome's transformation can be reverted by feeding a nearby Mungus a Poisonous Potato.
Breeding[]
Mungi can be bred by feeding them Mungal Spores.
Feeding two Mungi some Mungal Spores causes them to enter love mode and eventually a baby Mungus will spawn.

Trivia[]
- The Mungus design was inspired by the crewmates in the videogame: Among Us.
- Baby Mungi also resemble the mini-crewmate pets.
- If a Mungus is named "Drip" then it will get a pair of sneakers which is a reference to the Among Us Drip meme.
- This mob was heavily criticized with being out of place in the vanilla game.
- Ironically however, this actually made the Mungus a very popular mob.
- Before Version 1.17.0, Mungi were bred using Mushroom Stew but in said update it was replaced with Mungal Spores.

Animal Dictionary Entry |

"Mungi are strange fungal creatures found in the Mushroom Fields. These odd creatures are relatives of the Guardian and Strider, and are visually similar to them. Unlike their Guardian ancestors, Mungi are completely passive. Occasionally, they can be seen with a Mushroom growing out of the Mycelium coat that covers them. If fed more of the same Mushroom, more Mushrooms will take root on the Mungus. With one or more Mushrooms, Mungi will fire a beam similar to a Guardian's at nearby Mushrooms of the same type. They will use this to grow more of that type of Mushroom, and if the Mushroom is over Mycelium it may become a Giant Mushroom. This will exhaust the Mungus and lower the amount of Mushrooms on it. If slain with five Mushrooms on their back, the Mungus will erupt with a violent explosion, and convert the local area into the biome pertaining their fungus: for red and brown Mushrooms, the Mushroom Fields; and for Crimson and Warped fungus, the Crimson and Warped Forest respectively. The conversion of a biome can be undone by feeding a Mungus a Poisonous Potato. Mungi can be bred with Mungal Spores, which are occasionally dropped by Mungi every few days." |
