Mudskippers are passive mobs that can be found in Mangrove Swamp biomes.
Behavior[]
Mudskippers are semi-aquatic and can survive in both land and Water.
If two Mudskippers meet, they will raise their pelvic fins and circle each other in order to establish their dominance.
Mudskippers can be collected with a Water Bucket to obtain a Bucket of Mudskipper. Mudskippers placed in a bucket do not despawn naturally. When the bucket is used on a block it places Water along with the Mudskipper swimming next to it.
Taming[]
Mudskippers can be tamed by feeding them Lobster Tails.
Tamed Mudskippers can be set to three modes:
- Follow: Makes the Mudskipper follow its owner.
- Stay: Makes the Mudskipper stay in place.
- Wander: Makes the Mudskipper walk around aimlessly.
If its owner is attacked or if its owner attacks something then the Mudskipper will aid its owner in a fight by shooting balls of mud that can inflict Slowness and deal some damage to the target. Mudskippers will also move away when the target approaches it so that it doesn't get hit by melee attacks but Mudskippers are still vulnerable to ranged attacks.
Breeding[]
Mudskippers can be bred with Maggots, Crimson Mosquito Larvae or Leafcutter Ant Pupae. Tamed Mudskippers can additionally be bred with Lobster Tails.
Feeding two Mudskippers some Maggots, Crimson Mosquito Larvae or Leafcutter Ant Pupae (or Lobster Tails if its tamed) causes them to enter love mode and eventually one of the Mudskippers will spawn a baby Mudskipper.
Trivia[]
- Mudskippers in real-life don't live in Mangrove Swamps but instead live on wet beaches. However, despite that, some Mudskippers are still found on some ecosystems of a Mangrove Swamp.

"Mudskippers are fish that paradoxically spend most of their time walking on land. They can be found exclusively within the Mangrove Swamp biome. Occasionally, when 2 Mudskippers meet, they will raise their fins and begin circling each other to establish dominance. Mudskippers are equally at home on land as they are in Water. A Mudskipper can be tamed by feeding it several Lobster Tails. Tamed Mudskippers can be made to stay, follow or wander. When its owner is threatened, a Mudskipper will spit a ball of mud from its mouth at its opponent, which inflicts slowness and deals some damage. Mudskippers can also strafe in combat. They can be bred with any insect larva or Lobster Tails." |
