Komodo Dragons are placatable mobs that can be found in Sparse Jungle biomes.
Behavior[]
Komodo Dragons are placatable and will usually attack unless the player has tamed them.
They will attack by biting their target, causing the victim to be inflicted with Poison.
They will attack a large variety of mobs, including other Komodo Dragons that have been weakened. This even includes baby Komodo Dragons.
Wrestling[]
Komodo Dragons can often be seen wrestling other Komodo Dragons that haven't been weakened. This is when the two will stand on their hind legs and start pushing each other. Despite wrestling, the Komodo Dragons will not take damage from each other.
Taming[]
Komodo Dragons can be tamed by feeding them entire stacks of Rotten Flesh.
Tamed Komodo Dragons can be set to three modes:
- Follow: Makes the Komodo Dragon follow its owner.
- Stay: Makes the Komodo Dragon stay in place.
- Wander: Makes the Komodo Dragon walk around aimlessly.
Tamed Komodo Dragon can be ridden by the player if a Saddle is placed on one.
If a mob attacks the owner or the owner attacks a mob while the tamed Komodo Dragon is nearby and in follow or wander mode, the Komodo Dragon will attack the offending mob. This also happens if a mob attacks the Komodo Dragon.
Breeding[]
Komodo Dragons can be bred with Rotten Flesh.
Feeding two Komodo Dragons some Rotten Flesh causes them to enter love mode and eventually one of the Komodo Dragons will spawn 1-4 baby Komodo Dragons.
Trivia[]
- If a Komodo Dragon is named "Coda" or "Maid" then it will wear a maid's outfit.
- Before Version 1.14.2, this mob spawned in Badlands biomes. In the aforementioned update, the spawn biome changed to Sparse Jungles in order to match the Komodo Dragons real-life habitat.

"Komodo Dragons are the largest lizards in the world, often found in Sparse Jungle biomes. These big lizards see man and beast as food alike, and attack almost anything. They can often be seen wrestling others of their kind for dominance, standing on their hind legs. They are also cannibalistic, and will attack any other weakened Komodo Dragon, especially baby Komodos. These lizards have a terribly poisonous bite which they use to bring their prey down to size. Komodo Dragons have a fondness for Rotten Flesh, and will eat entire stacks of them out of players. If they are fed multiple entire stacks of Rotten Flesh, they can become tamed to the player. Tamed Komodos are just as savage as wild Komodos, yet they can be saddled and used as a formidable mount that is surprisingly quick. Tame Komodo Dragons can be made to stay, follow and wander. Komodo Dragons can also occasionally drip their noxious saliva. If brewed with a Poison Resistance potion, it can extend the duration. This item can be bottled, and then brewed with a Cave Centipede Leg to create an alternative to Poisonous Essence in a pinch as well. Three Komodo Dragon Spit can also be used to create a Slimeball." |
