Hammerhead Sharks are placatable mobs that spawn underwater in Warm Ocean biomes.
Behavior[]
Hammerhead Sharks can only live in Water and will slowly die if on land for too long.
Hammerhead Sharks are placatable and will only attack the player and other mobs if they're injured or if they themselves attack one.
Hammerhead Sharks will target Tropical Fish, Squid, Glow Squid and Mimic Octopuses without those targets needing to be injured first.
Hammerhead Sharks will hunt by encircling its target for a while before dashing towards its target and dealing damage using its teeth.
Trivia[]
- Mojang said themselves that they will not add sharks to the game due to them being endangered in real-life. Alex's Mobs handles this problem really well as the Hammerhead Sharks added by the mod will only drop Shark Teeth if they are attacking prey and the sharks in-game will also only attack the player if they are injured. On top of that, the species used is one that rarely attacks. In addition, the other reason why Mojang not added sharks to the vanilla game is that all hostile mobs need to be a fantasy creature despite Hammerhead Sharks rarely attacking humans.
- Despite the fact that the Hammerhead Sharks in-game are capable of attacking the player, real-life Hammerhead Sharks are extremely unlikely to attack humans.
- Players or mobs getting hurt near Hammerhead Sharks and the sharks attacking them likely is connected to the myth that in real life when people loose blood in the ocean it attracts sharks to attack them.

"Hammerhead Sharks are large, cartilaginous fish well known for their predatory habits, that live in warmer waters. Hammerheads will target any creature that is beneath half health, being scavengers. They also love Tropical Fish and Squids. When seeking out food, Hammerhead Sharks circle their prey beforehand, to scope out an ideal attack angle. Occasionally, when attacking prey, the Hammerhead may loose one of its many teeth. These teeth can be used to create Arrows that can travel better underwater and deal extra damage to aquatic creatures." |
