Gelada Monkeys (also known as Gelada Baboons) are neutral mobs that can be found in Meadow biomes.
Behavior[]
Gelada Monkeys will spawn in groups, each group is led by a Leader Gelada Monkey.
Gelada Monkeys will fight back if the player attacks one and will attack by biting their victim.
If one Gelada Monkey is attacked, the rest of the group will come to its defense.
Leader Gelada Monkeys will also fight each other although this usually doesn't involve death as the losing Monkey will leave before they die. Before fighting, they will challenge each other by rearing their fangs to each other or showing their chest.
Gelada Monkeys can sometimes be seen foraging for grass on the ground if they are standing on top of a Grass Block.
A Gelada Monkey will sometimes begin to approach a non-rival Gelada Monkey and begin grooming them for a few seconds.
Clearing Land[]
If a Gelada Monkey is fed Wheat, it will begin to destroy any Tallgrass it finds for a few minutes.
Breeding[]
Gelada Monkeys can be bred with Dead Bushes.
Feeding two Gelada Monkeys some Dead Bushes causes them to enter love mode and eventually one of the Gelada Monkeys will spawn a baby Gelada Monkey.

"Gelada Monkeys are large, neutral monkeys found exclusively in high-altitude Meadow biomes. These are the only monkeys known to eat almost exclusively grass. They can often be seen grooming each other or resting in the Meadows. These monkeys are fiercely territorial, and each group is commanded by a leader, denoted by their large mane. These leaders often fight in fantastic spectacles, although neither monkey gets seriously hurt. When angered, Gelada Monkeys can flip their upper lips to reveal gigantic teeth, or sparely stand on their hind legs and show their crimson chest. Gelada Monkeys can be fed Wheat to entice them to destroy most of the grass and tall grass in an area. This can be a useful way to clear land. Gelada Monkeys can be bred with Dead Bushes." |
