Emus are neutral mobs that can be found in Badlands and Savanna biomes.
Behavior[]
Emus will either fight back or run away if the player attacks one and will attack by using their claws to deal damage. If one member in the flock is attacked then the rest of them will either attack or run away too.
If a projectile is shot at an Emu then it has a chance to dodge to avoid being hit meaning that it's very hard to kill Emus with ranged weapons. However, if the Emu is running away, it does not dodge the projectile.
Emus will also attack any mob that is always normally holding a Bow or Crossbow which includes Skeletons and Pillagers.
Breeding[]
Emus can be bred with Wheat.
Feeding two Emus some Wheat causes them to enter love mode and eventually one of the Emus will spawn a baby Emu.
On rare occasions, the baby will have a rare albino coloration.

Trivia[]
- Emus dodging launched projectiles is a reference to the Emu War, an actual real-life war that was started when the Emus started eating all the Wheat which caused farmers to call in the Australian Military to deal with the problem. They used machine guns to kill the Emus but the Emus speed made it surprisingly difficult to kill them and so the Military gave up.
- Their entry in the Animal Dictionary also references this.
- Mojang said that they may be adding Ostriches into the game, which may be the reason why sbom_xela added Emus instead.

Animal Dictionary Entry |

"The Emu is a large, flightless bird found in Badlands and Savannas of the Overworld. Although its appearance is slightly comical, the Emu is not a bird to be trifled with. Legend says that these creatures once won a great war against a technologically advanced nation, simply due to their uncanny ability to dodge projectiles, great numbers and speed. When attacked, Emu will initially panic and flee, but some Emu from the flock will return to attack. They use their large claws to rip and tear at prey. Emus dislike Bows, and for this reason they sometimes attack Skeletons. They can be bred with Wheat, and there are a few color patterns that may appear through breeding. Emus can occasionally lay one of their large blue eggs, which can be cooked to create a savory treat. On death, they may drop some of their feathers, that can be used to create a special set of leggings that can allow the wearer to dodge some projectiles, just like the Emu. The feather can be used to make a Banner Pattern." |
