Devil's Hole Pupfish are passive mobs that spawn underwater in the devil's hole chunk.
Devil's Hole Chunk[]
The Devil's Hole Chunk is the location where Devil's Hole Pupfish can spawn, only one Devil's Hole Chunk can appear per world and the only way to locate them is by using a Strange Fish Finder.
The chunk itself is usually located in either Desert or Badlands biomes and it always has an underground Water source which can vary in size. This Water source is also the area where the Devil's Hole Pupfish spawn in the chunk although they can also be found in Water sources located on the surface.
Behavior[]
Devil's Hole Pupfish can only live in Water and will slowly die if on land for too long.
Devil's Hole Pupfish are often seen chasing each other around and are even capable of quickly reproducing if there are two Devil's Hole Pupfish in the same location.
Devil's Hole Pupfish can peck Mossy Cobblestone and other similar blocks to feast on it and afterwards, the player can obtain a Slimeball left behind after the feed.
Devil's Hole Pupfish can be collected with a Water Bucket to obtain a Bucket of Devil's Hole Pupfish. Devil's Hole Pupfish placed in a bucket do not despawn naturally. When the bucket is used on a block it places Water along with the Devil's Hole Pupfish swimming next to it.

- This mob has the second longest name, being 18 characters long if spaces are not included and 20 characters long if spaces are included.
- It is also one of only two mob names with three words as opposed to one or two words, the other being the Alligator Snapping Turtle.

| "Devil's Hole Pupfish are little fish known for being the world's rarest fish, due to their tiny range. These Pupfish can only spawn within underground aquifers in a single chunk in the Overworld. To find the chunk that Devil's Hole Pupfish call home, you will need to craft a Strange Fish Finder. This device will send out a sound wave in the direction of the chunk. Once you find the Pupfish, you may notice them chasing each other around. This is where they get their name from, as the behaviour is reminiscent of puppies playing. Pupfish subsist by eating muck off the surface of submerged mossy blocks. Occasionally while pecking these blocks, they can dislodge a slimeball.
