Crocodiles are placatable mobs that can be found in River, Swamp, and Mangrove Swamp biomes.
Behavior[]
Crocodiles have a short aggro range in which they will pursue and attack players, unless the Crocodile is placated with Rotten Flesh, or was spawned from a Crocodile Egg and the nearest entity upon spawn was the player.
Crocodiles are semi-aquatic and can survive in both land and Water.
Crocodiles are often seen swimming underwater or occasionally spotted basking on land.
Death Roll[]
Crocodiles will attack by biting their target with their jaws, and then dragging them into Water where they proceed to do a death roll, dealing rapid damage to their target.
It is possible to escape a Crocodile's jaws by simply sneaking, although this may cause them to use their grab attack again and likely kill already-damaged entities.
They will attack a large variety of mobs, extending to hostile mobs if tamed.
A Shield can be used when a Crocodile is lunging to temporarily stun it, similar to a vanilla Ravager.
Taming[]
Crocodiles can be tamed by being near Crocodile Eggs as soon as they hatch, the baby Crocodiles will then imprint on their nearest entity which will mean that they will never attack the imprinted entity, along with being tamed to them.
Tamed Crocodiles can be set to two modes:
- Stay: Makes the Crocodile stay in place and bask.
- Wander: Makes the Crocodile walk around aimlessly.
Crocodiles spawned from a Crocodile Egg will attack any monsters that enter its area of birth.
Once the Crocodile has grown up, some Crocodile Scutes will drop.
Crocodiles that hatch in a warm biome will take on a paler color scheme.
Breeding[]
Crocodiles can be bred with Rotten Flesh.
Feeding two Crocodiles some Rotten Flesh causes them to enter love mode and eventually one of the Crocodiles will lay some Crocodile Eggs.

Trivia[]
- Naming a Crocodile "King", "Rool", "Crown" or "King K Rool" will give it a crown in reference to the Donkey Kong character of the same name.
- The Crocodile was the very first mob to receive a texture change.
- Most people were actually surprised that the Caiman, a very similar mob to the Crocodile in terms of appearance, made it into the mod.
- This is the only mob that is dangerous when the player mounts it, as when it performs the death roll attack, it is considered mounting.

Animal Dictionary Entry |

"The Crocodile is a massive reptile that spawns in Rivers and Swamps rarely throughout the overworld. This beast lunges towards its prey, grabbing and then pulling them underwater where it proceeds to deal a devastating death roll. This lunge attack can be blocked to temporarily stun the Crocodile. It is naturally hostile towards man and beast alike. Although hostile, Crocodiles can be bred with Rotten Flesh. After breeding, Crocodiles will come ashore to lay their eggs. If these eggs are damaged, any Crocodile parents will become aggressive. After some time, Crocodile Eggs will hatch, and the baby Crocodile can imprint on the nearest player. It will defend the area of its birth from monsters. Interacting with it can also make it stay still and bask. Crocodile Scutes are dropped when the creatures become an adult or on death. These scutes can be used to create a protective chestplate that increases the wearer's swim speed. They can also be used to make a copy of this book." |
