Crimson Mosquitoes are placatable mobs that can be found in Crimson Forest biomes or if a Fly is in The Nether for too long.
Behavior[]
Crimson Mosquitoes are plactable and will usually attack unless the player has either the Bug Pheromones or Mosquito Repellent effects.
Crimson Mosquitoes are capable of flying.
Blood Sucking[]
Crimson Mosquitoes will attack by sucking the blood of its prey by latching on to them and drinking. This can actually be blocked with a Shield.
Once the Crimson Mosquito has finished sucking their preys blood, it will begin to fire the blood back at its target.
Crimson Mosquitoes will only attack warm-blooded animals.
If a Crimson Mosquito is killed while its sac is full of blood, then it may drop Blood Sacs upon death.
Warped Mosco Transformation[]
If a Crimson Mosquito drinks the blood of a Mungus which is coated in Warped Fungus then the Crimson Mosquito will turn blue and start to grow in size, eventually turning into a Warped Mosco.
This can also be done manually if the Crimson Mosquito is fed Warped Mixture.

"The Crimson Mosquito is a hideous, mutant flying insect found in the Crimson Forests of The Nether. This voracious beast will seek out almost any warm-blooded animal as a snack, including people. It first lunges at its prey, and latches on, sucking them dry. Once it has had its fill, it will begin to fly and use its prey's blood against it - spitting it back at the target. If slain while inflated with blood, the Crimson Mosquito can drop a Blood Sac. It also can drop its Proboscis. Both of these materials can be used to craft the Blood Sprayer, a unique weapon that uses Mosquito Spit to deal area of effect damage. The Blood Sprayer uses Blood Sacs as ammunition. If an Overworld, garden variety Fly happens to find itself in The Nether, it can transform into a Crimson Mosquito." |
