Cosmaws are neutral mobs that spawn rarely in all biomes of The End (except the main island).
Behavior[]
Cosmaws will fight back if the player attacks one and will attack by using their proboscis to bite its target.
Cosmaws will fly around but are unable to land.
Cosmaws will also attack Cosmic Cod.
Taming[]
Cosmaws can be tamed by feeding them Cosmic Cod.
Tamed Cosmaws can be set to three modes:
- Follow: Makes the Cosmaw follow its owner.
- Stay: Makes the Cosmaw stay in place.
- Wander: Makes the Cosmaw walk around aimlessly.
Tamed Cosmaws cannot attack mobs with the exception of Cosmic Cod.
If their owner falls into the void then the Cosmaw, if set to follow the player, will use its proboscis to prevent its owner from falling into the void, it will then start to fly to a nearby island to place its owner. This also happens when the player begins falling far enough to take fall damage. The Cosmaw may not always be able to catch its owner depending on how far away from them it is, but it will always attempt to bring its owner to safety.
Tamed Cosmaws can be healed with Chorus Fruit.
Breeding[]
Tamed Cosmaws can be bred with Cosmic Cod.
Feeding two tamed Cosmaws some Cosmic Cod causes them to enter love mode and eventually one of the Cosmaws will spawn a baby Cosmaw.

- The Cosmaw's design was inspired by the real-life extinct animal, the Tullimonstrum.
- This mob was actually added before Cosmic Cod (mob), but it was added at the same time of Cosmic Cod (item) being added.

| "Cosmaw are neutral, enigmatic creatures found rarely wandering the outer islands of The End. These creatures have evaded classification, as they embody traits expected of fish, arthropods, molluscs and more. Nevertheless, what is known about Cosmaw is their favorite meal: Cosmic Cod. This strange fish can be found swimming in schools under End Islands, or obtained by placing a Cod inside an Enderiophage's Capsid. Although most would find the taste of this fish toxic, Cosmaw seem to seek it out, and can be tamed with multiple feedings. Unlike many other tameable beasts, Cosmaw will not defend their owners in combat, completely content to sit out most battles. Yet this creature does care for its master, for if its owner falls off the edge of an End Island, the Cosmaw will come to the rescue. It can pick up its falling owner with its large claw-mouth, and return them back to land safely. This makes a Cosmaw a must-have follower for most End explorers. Cosmaw can also be bred with Cosmic Cod, once tamed, and healed with Chorus Fruit." |
