Cachalot Whales (also known as Sperm Whales) are neutral mobs that spawn underwater in Lukewarm Ocean, Deep Ocean, Frozen Ocean, and Cold Ocean biomes.
Behavior[]
Cachalot Whales can only live in Water or land for a limited amount of time and will slowly die if on land or Water for too long. However if they are beached, they won't really take damage.
Cachalot Whales use echolocation with sounds of rapid clicking to detect nearby Squids, Glow Squids, Mimic Octopuses or Giant Squids. If a Cachalot Whale has an encounter with a Giant Squid, a fight between the two mobs will initiate.
Cachalot Whales will fight back by biting and ramming their target or prey, dealing a lot of damage in the process. If targets try to escape, the Cachalot whale will additionally charge at high speeds.
A Cachalot Whale in Water can be seen blowing bubbles from their blowhole.
Cachalot Whales have the ability to break Ice, Boats and blocks made from Wood.
Cachalot Whales are sometimes seen sleeping in a vertical direction during night.
Baby Cachalot Whales are often prey for Orca and any parents will try to defend their young.
An albino white variant can rarely be found, with red eyes instead of the regular black and white eyes. These variants have increased health.
Beached Cachalot Whales[]
Sometimes during a thunderstorm, a Cachalot Whale has a rare chance of spawning in a Beach biome on land.
If this Cachalot Whale is pushed back into the Water without being hurt, then it will cough up some Ambergris as a reward.

- Even though Cachalot Whales are not considered as a boss mob, they have the same health amount as the Void Worm, but if counting the albino variant's health, they have more health then the Void Worm. This makes Cachalot Whales the mobs with the most health, even having more health than the Sea Bear.
- The albino variant is a reference to Moby Dick, a popular novel about an albino white Cachalot whale attacking a whaling ship.
- The Advancement: Save the Whales! Is a reference to how Cachalot Whales and other whale species are under threat and are currently protected, their numbers are rising slowly.
- The name "Cachalot". Is actually another name for the Sperm Whale that is added into the game.
- Despite popular myth, the scratches on the albino Cachalot Whale's head is not caused by a Giant Squid.

| "The Cachalot Whale is a massive, neutral mammal found in Lukewarm, Cold, and Deep Oceans, where it can be seen hunting its favorite prey - Squid. They do this by sending out a sound to echolocate their prey, which bounces back to the whale when it hits the Squid in order for them to confirm its location. The whale then proceeds to speed up and open its mouth full of sharp teeth to ram into the prey. Occasionally, the whale may drop one of these long teeth in the process. These whales are capable of breaking Ice when they move, but if charging they can break boats and other kinds of wood. Rarely, all-white whales can be found, which are much stronger than other whales. The Cachalot Whale may seem like a giant, but it still is threatened by a few forces of nature. Orca whales love to eat young Cachalots, and their mothers will try to fiercely defend them from harm. During powerful thunderstorms, Cachalot Whales may spawn washed up on Beaches. They are helpless in this form, and if pushed back into the Water without being hurt, may decide to reward their saviors. The reward for this task is in the form of Ambergris, a valuable byproduct of the Whale's stomach that is coughed up. Ambergris can be traded to Fishermen Villagers for a great deal of Emeralds, or can be used to craft an Echolocator. It can also be used as a powerful fuel that can smelt 64 items. The Echolocator can be used to reveal nearby Caves. Once a Cave has been found it will release a sound wave in the direction of the cave. One should be conservative with this tool since it has a limited number of uses. If crafted with 4 Ender Pearls, one can make an Echolocator, which can reveal the location of the End Portal when near a Stronghold." |
