Ambergris is a miscellaneous item obtained from Cachalot Whales.
Obtaining[]
Ambergris can be obtained by pushing Cachalot Whales back into the water without hurting them. Beached Cachalot Whales will spawn naturally on beaches during thunderstorms, but they may become beached in other circumstances. When the beached whale is returned to water, without the player hurting them, it will cough up Ambergris from their stomach to reward the player.

Ambergris can be traded to a Fisherman Villager at level 3 in exchange for 20 Emeralds.
Trivia[]
- Any beached Cachalot Whale may give the player Ambergris, not just those that spawn in thunderstorms, including those beached by the player as long as they do not attack it.
- Therefore, an easy way to obtain Ambergris is to use soul sand underwater to push a Cachalot Whale to the surface of the water and place blocks under them; when it enters the beached state, simply remove the soul sand and blocks.
